Kiwi Country Clothing was established in Ireland in June 2012 by yours truly, Elizabeth McGuinness. I have been living and working in New Zealand since 1999 and have been very impressed by the quality and range of premium wet and cold weather garments … and all made in New Zealand. Over the years I have been wearing them myself, buying as gifts to bring to friends and family in Ireland…and unconsciously promoting them to other Kiwis all across New Zealand!!
My range of clothing caters to the farming, equine and outdoor-trades sectors. There is also an impressive selection of lifestyle knitwear, jackets and accessories available to purchase… from the iconic possum/merino/silk knitwear range to possum fur insoles, high grade oilskins, hand-made, totally unique underwear (originally designed for the equestrian lady (and gent)… now a “must have” fashion/comfy knickers)) to plush and lush alpaca scarves.
Formerly a secondary school teacher in St. Louis, Carrickmacross, Ireland, I became very involved with McDonald’s NZ along with my franchisee husband, Paddy Doyle (a genuine Kiwi!). This facilitated my travels across the length and breadth of NZ, engaging in many different working environments, and learning about the many facets of Kiwi life.
My business horizons expanded during my time in New Zealand and I had much experience of working and enjoying a range of weather conditions in NZ, and many winter sojourns back to Ireland. As a lady who suffers from arthritis myself, I understand how vital it is in damp cold weather to keep the joints warm (thus reducing pain levels).
Kiwi Country Clothing happened almost organically as it was apparent to me that while a raft of other products were available in Irish market, none had the intrinsic feature of possum/ merino/silk warmth, Outback durability and quality, the option of never again having cold feet, and underwear which fits like the perfect glove. Add to that the utter luxury of 100% alpaca, and 100% feather and down cosy winter jackets, not to mention to wonderful range of Outback equine clothing…. from jackets, chaps, dusters, the amazing Fanny Adams knickers (and Freddie Adams for the males!), and the ground breaking 36.6 MKM possum/merino jerseys...I honestly believe I have the market covered for those who wish to stay warm and dry in cold and wet conditions, and most importantly at a price point which reflects very good value for money. As New Zealand has a varying range of climates, from sub-tropical in the north, sub-arctic in the south and has very similar weather as Ireland, from the central north island through to Wellington, Kiwi Country Clothing has a firm understanding of what is required for typical Irish weather…. and how sad it seems that the “wet and cold” tag now applies to our Irish Summers.
Kiwi Country Clothing… the answer to cold and wet weather apparel for Irish conditions.
During recessionary times, people are much more conscious of their discretionary spend, and I have focussed on providing quality, durability and luxury at very reasonable cost. Kiwi Country Clothing has complete exclusivity on all these products for sale in Ireland (32 counties). I invite you to contact me at any time, visit my showroom (by appointment) in Monaghan to view my full range, and I welcome specific orders, if not immediately available from the range.
Every item in Kiwi Country Clothing range is 100% natural, with a focus on ecological best practice. KCC ethos is based on providing top quality natural products, which apart from their durability, quality and great price point, commits to supporting long term sustainability within NZ natural environment.
